HabakkukSample

Notice how Habakkuk stations himself to hear from the Lord before he knows what is going to happen. All he has heard is that in response to his lament about the injustices amongst his people, an even worse nation is going to come to power over them. This must have been awful news to Habakkuk, but he is faithful. Later, in God’s response is a line that Habakkuk has already been embodying:
”Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous will live by their faith” (v. 4, NRSV).
Living by faith means staying at our “watchpost” no matter what is going on around us because we believe that God is faithful; and that even if we don’t understand what is going on, God is in control.

About this Plan

Habakkuk is all about having vision when all you see is injustice. It is a timely book for the Church today to engage with. How do you carry a vision when the world seems to be going in the opposite direction? Habakkuk gives us some great insights into this question. This plan was crafted as a My Local Church study plan. We hope you will join us on this journey.
