Day 1: Cultural Influences vs. Truth

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ (Colossians 2:8).

Theme

A scene of aggressive interrogation represents the wider battle raging over maintaining the truth of the Bible. A government authority figure expresses outrage at the Bible’s “offensive” content that contradicts new cultural norms. This scene depicts the polarizing tension between cultural revisionism, which seeks to distort the Bible’s language to accommodate new moral biases, versus protecting and preserving God’s eternal, unchanging message as originally inspired.

The imagined US government has revised and censored the Bible to make it inoffensive and align with modern cultural values and norms, but the disciples believe the world should conform to the Bible rather than the Bible conforming to the culture.
