Daily Bible Reading— August 2024, God’s Guiding Word: FaithSample
August 2
Introduction
Joshua 2:1–24: Joshua sends out two spies to explore the land of Canaan. In Jericho, the spies encounter Rahab, a woman who hides them from the king of Jericho and asks them to spare her household when the Israelites enter the land.
Today’s Key Verse: Joshua 2:11b
“The LORD your God is God in heaven above and here on earth.”
Reflect
How did Rahab hide the spies? What did she tell the king’s men? What does she ask of the Israelite spies (verses 12–13)? How do the Israelites respond (verse 14)? Based on today’s reading, how would you describe Rahab? What are your thoughts about her actions? What caused her to express her faith in the God of the Israelites? How do you express your faith in God?
Pray
Lord God of heaven and earth, I trust you, knowing I'm always in your loving and protective care. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Joshua 6:1–27: The city of Jericho falls.
