Establishing Goals And Having A Plan
Do you find yourself not moving toward your goals in your life journey? Holding onto the past or overcommitting to the present can prevent us from focusing on where we are going. We cannot let obligations or circumstance dictate what we should be doing. We need to have a plan and establish goals that align with God’s will for our lives.
God has a purpose and plan for every child of His: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plan to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11). He knows this plan from even before we were conceived—in fact even before the foundation of the world: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight” (Ephesians 1:4).
If we make our plans apart from the Creator of the Universe, these plans will always be “less than,” or even completely opposite of what God truly wanted for us. “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). It’s very important to communicate and listen to Him. He always wants the very best for us.
We can only achieve true spiritual contentment when we discover and live according to God’s plan for our lives. Let’s wake up and see God in little things, paying attention to what He is telling us is His plan. If you haven’t written down the goals for your life, start by doing that. Ask God for direction in His purpose for your life. Once you have a certain understanding of God’s plan for your life, then it’s time to take some action.
Prayer: Father, help us to understand your plans for our lives. Give us the courage and determination to pursue these plans wholeheartedly.
