SAVIOR
There is good news. Not just a nice story about something that happened. No, this news shows us what goodness actually is.
Yesterday’s reading was focused on the true problem for humanity: sin.
Today’s reading is focused on the solution for humanity, the greatest act of goodness, executed by the One who is truly good, in order to save us from sin.
The bad news is that sin is present in every human being, and there is nothing that we can do about it.
The good news is that Jesus, God who walked among us, has freed us from the penalty of our sins. He has moved us from being rebels, fighting against God, into being His family, welcomed, and forgiven.
How did Jesus do it?
Sin produces death. It always produces death. It may not be immediately noticeable, but death is always the consequence, the end result, of sin.
Jesus, who never sinned, chose to die in our place. He chose to suffer, He was betrayed, He was beaten, and He was nailed to a cross in order to die. And in His death on the cross, He took the penalty of sin for us.
That is good news!
The one thing that you can’t do for yourself, He did for you.
And not only did Jesus die, taking the penalty of sin, He also rose from the dead. His new life, means that you can have new life. Only one thing is required: you have to receive the good news.
Don’t live in denial, thinking you can self-improve your way into a new life. Acknowledge that you are a sinner, and that you can’t save yourself from your sin, and receive the good news:
Jesus died, so that you could live.
Jesus saving humanity is the essence of goodness; the goodest news you will ever hear!
