Here are some clinical facts about blood:

• Approximately, the blood in our body makes up 8% of our weight.
• It is estimated that 1/7 of people entering a hospital require blood.
• Our kidneys can recycle up to 400 gallons of blood each day.

Therefore, we can say that blood is the essential fluid that circulates throughout the human body; blood is life.

In fact, this knowledge about the value and importance of blood is not something discovered in the 21st century, since the Israelites were instructed that when a hunter captures «any animal or bird that may be eaten must drain out the blood and cover it with earth, 14 because the life of every creature is its blood» (Lev. 17:13-14a). For several millennia, God had already revealed to man the importance of blood in every living being.

In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word for "blood" ("dam") is used more than 360 times. Therefore, it is very easy to conclude that blood is an important element and an essential subject that every believer should study and understand.
