7 Prominent Themes of the Psalmists in 7 DaysSample
Day 1 - Ps Liam Barlow
Praise and Worship
Praise and worship is one of the most powerful things a believer can engage in. It not only positions us in the presence of God, but it positions us in a place of surrender, adoration and thankfulness towards God. Psalm 150 encapsulates the heart of praise and worship. This Psalm teaches us that praise and worship is not just for people that are gifted to play musical instruments and sing, but we are all called to praise and worship God (v6). It talks about a kind of praise that celebrates, raves and boasts about God. We can celebrate God in many ways but two of these ways are thanking Him for His power and greatness (v2). This Psalm highlights to us that we should not just praise God for what He gives us, but also for who He is. Praise and worship is outworked in many expressions, but regardless of our expression of praise and worship, we all carry the same heart. This is to bless, lift up and exalt God.
When we lift up our praise and worship to God it shifts things in our life spiritually. Here are a few things that your praise can do in your heart today:
Praise gives you strength (Nehemiah 8:10)
Praise tears down walls (Joshua 6:20)
Praise breaks chains (Acts 16:26)
Praise opens doors (Acts 16:26)
Praise enlarges your perception of God (Psalm 69:30)
Praise lifts your Spirit (Psalm 42:5-6)
Praise makes you aware of God’s presence (Psalm 140:13)
Praise helps you understand and remember the blessings of God (Psalm 105)
Praise reminds you the battle belongs to the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:16)
Praise positions you in a place of thanks (Psalm 100:1)
Prayer
God, today I choose to praise and worship Your name. I pray that You are magnified and glorified in my life. I pray that through my praise and worship You would position me right where You need me. Help me be surrendered, obedient and attentive to Your command.
Amen.
