The Importance of the HeartSample
“Pretty controversial, Daryl. Like God is not looking at our sinful deeds.” I hear you. But let’s take a closer look.
“(...) and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Rom. 3:24)
But:
“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!” (Rom. 6:15)
It is good to get the right meaning of the word “sin” because these days it is being associated with the terrifying and ugly actions of men. While in fact, it has to do a lot with the heart. Knowing the following blew my mind and changed my whole perspective.
The top three Hebrew words used for sin are RASHA, CHET, and AVON. Although all 3 of them have a slightly different focus, at the core they mean:
Either intentional or unintentional, missing the purpose of God in your life.
The word “sin” focuses not on the what, but on the why. So, not on your bad actions, but on your the heart behind the action.
When you will see and recognize this, you might imagine why every sin - small or big in our eyes - eventually has the same consequence: missing God’s purpose in your life (which is sin) leads to death.
I believe God longs for people who despite their mistakes, don’t want to miss the goal in their life, but hit it. 🎯 He longs for hearts that, despite their mistakes, don’t lose sight of their goal. Because missing the goal is what sin is.
Curious about that particular goal? I’d like to encourage you to take a look at my other reading plan called “What is your Divine Assignment?”. Tomorrow more about the goal.
Is your heart still willing to hit the goal? Maybe you have lost your way a little bit. You may know that God is always waiting for you with arms wide open to receive you. Also today!
About this Plan
According to the Bible, our existence consists of three parts: spirit, soul, and body. Or not? Because: where is the heart in this? And why is this so important? My name is Daryl Jay Kyle, singer and songwriter. I would like to dive deeper into the importance of the heart, yours and mine.
