Holding on to Hope in Your Waiting Season a 5-Day Plan by Krista Pettiford

DAY 3 OF 5

Do Not Consider Your Limitations

And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

Romans 4:19

When we are in a waiting season, even when our hope is fixed on God, there will be opportunities to consider our situation and human limitations.

The Greek word consider in Romans 4:19 means to observe something fully, take notice, and look upon it. When we continually consider things that don’t align with God’s promises, they take space in our thoughts, take a toll on our faith, and become our main focus.

We must not factor in our temporary circumstances, human frailties, or anything that would hinder our faith to determine whether God will fulfill promises. We must remember that all things are possible with God. He does not consider our human frailties when He gives us a promise. All by Himself, He can bring His word to pass. Our only job is to believe.

When you are struggling to hold on to hope, and you feel tempted to think about how unattainable, impossible, or unreasonable God’s promise seems, consider God’s faithfulness instead.

When tempted to dwell on your powerlessness to change your situation and all the reasons that what God promised you cannot happen, think about God’s power and authority to accomplish His will.

Beloved, are you constantly considering your circumstances? If so, write out your promises from God, put them in a prominent place where you can see them, meditate on them, and speak them over yourself daily. Doing these things will help you hold on to hope while waiting.

About this Plan

Holding on to Hope in Your Waiting Season a 5-Day Plan by Krista Pettiford

Krista Pettiford encourages believers in a waiting season not to give up when God gives them an impossible-sized promise – something contrary to what our circumstances conclude that only God can do. God kept His word to Abraham and Sarah after waiting twenty-five years because they held to their hope, and He will do the same for you.
