Experiencing Pain, Presence, and Purpose: Unlocking the Power of Faith 4-Day Devotional by Joy Lowery

DAY 3 OF 4

Day 3: Experiencing Your Purpose

Our individual Purposes are not our own. The intended goal for our Purpose is that we embody it and use it to uplift others and bring them closer to Christ. The various circumstances you have experienced are only the beginning of God’s Plan to build His Kingdom through you.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11, ESV)

Recognizing who God has called us to be helps us to walk upright and live a life that is pleasing to Christ. Nothing is wasted in our journey. Each trial, storm, and heartache has a purpose. God can turn what seems negative into a positive path to bear fruit and strengthen your connection with Him.

My divorce seemed to be the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me. As God walked with me through it, I began to recognize who I truly was in Christ. I quickly realized that the closer you walk to Him, the closer He will walk to you (James 4:8). As the saying goes, “The more you hang around a person, the more you will begin to possess their characteristics.” The more you pray with God and read His Word, the more you will look, act, and walk like Him.

God will never leave you nor forsake you. He understands the emotions behind each trial you face. You can cry out to God with confidence, knowing that He hears you.

Sometimes, it may seem that we are unsure about our Purpose and that the road ahead is unclear. However, don’t lose hope. You can have faith in God, knowing that what you cannot see or understand, He does. Understanding your Purpose does not have to be complex. Take it one day at a time, one Scripture at a time, and one experience at a time.

There is no need to know it all at once. God is such a Gentleman. He will be patient with you as you experience the Purpose that He has for you.
