THE WAY TO FREEDOM (MODULE 3)

PROTECT THE HOUSE (PART B) - OUR MIND

The second area that the enemy will try to attack is our mind. Throughout the New Testament, the Apostle Paul is constantly challenging us to think differently, to be transformed by the renewing of our minds and to take captive every thought. Paul knew that the enemy would attack our minds and so we need to be on guard as the enemy tries to win the battle between our ears. As a reminder, the process that we will use to deal with these root spirits is as follows:

READ: Each root spirit will come with a number of examples of things you may be dealing with.

REFLECT: Think about which root spirits you have been dealing with in your life.

RENOUNCE: Pray a prayer of repentance to God and renouncement of sin. This is where we break the power of sin over our lives.

ROOT SPIRIT 5 – PRIDE:

Pride – Scorn - Mockery – Arrogance - Judgmental - Rudeness - Lofty looks - Bragging - Stubbornness - Egotism – Prejudice - Superiority - Vanity - Rebellion - Controlling - Overbearing - Gossip - Religiosity - Self-righteous - Contentious - Critical spirit - Independence - Intellectualism

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” - Proverbs 16:18 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 5 – PRIDE:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. Satan fell through pride and is now trying to bring me down by my sin. I acknowledge that pride is sin and I ask you to forgive me. Satan, I demand that you release me from the stronghold of pride. As it says in 1 John 2, that pride is not from you but from the world. So, in the Name of Jesus, I break all pride. Thank You, Lord, for opening my eyes to the work of Satan. Help me to walk humbly before you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 6 – CONFUSION:

Unbiblical sexual orientation - Gender dysphoria - Unreasonableness - Broken spirit - The occult - Abuse - Unclean spirit - False teaching - Stubbornness - Religious error - Crankiness - Sexual deviation - Manipulation - Twisted words.

“The Lord has mingled within her a spirit of confusion”. - Isaiah 19:14 ESV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 6 – CONFUSION:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. I acknowledge that there is sin in my life that has caused confusion in me. Please set me free. Satan, I demand you release me from the stronghold of confusion. In 1 Corinthians 14, the Bible says that God is not the Author of confusion but the Author of peace. So right now, I receive Your peace and Your truth, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 7 – LYING:

Lies - Delusion - Deception - Exaggeration - Excessive talking - Profanity - Hypocrisy - Religious spirit - Gossip - Legalism - Insincerity - Financial problems - Condemnation - Worthlessness - Self-doubt – Flattery.

“So you see, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouths of your prophets. For the Lord has pronounced your doom.” - 2 Chronicles 18:22 NLT

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 7 – LYING:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. I have believed the lies of Satan. Forgive me and heal me from the damage caused by these words. Satan, I demand you release me from the stronghold of lying. As it says in Colossians 3, help me put on my new nature so I can be renewed by you to become more like you. In Jesus' Name, I break all the lies that have been said over my life, I declare and believe in your truth over my life, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 8 – ANTI-CHRIST:

Persecutes believers - Harasses believers - Martyrs believers - Opposes the Bible - Suppresses ministry - Splits churches - Lawlessness - Blasphemes the Spirit - Rationalizes the Bible - Takes Jesus place - Denial - Deceiver - Atheism - Rebellion - False teaching.

“and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” - I John 4:3 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 8 – ANTI-CHRIST:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. I acknowledge that I have allowed the enemy to deceive me. I want to be free from this spiritual blindness to know your truth. Satan, I demand you release me from the stronghold of the Antichrist. I ask that you give me the weapons found in 2 Corinthians 10 to break down the strongholds of the enemy. Open my spiritual eyes to see and believe Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 9 – DIVINATION:

Independence - Witchcraft - Mediums - Horoscopes - Astrology - Stubbornness - Satanism Diviners - Ouija boards – Exorcism - Eastern religions - Mysticism - Freemasonry - Transcendence - Drugs – Seances - Channelling - Tarot cards – Escapism - Fortunetellers - Crystal balls - Familiar spirits - Occult games and movies.

“Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling.” - Acts 16:16 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 9 – DIVINATION:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. Forgive me for any involvement in witchcraft, fortune telling and worship of idols or false gods. Satan, I demand you release me from the stronghold of divination. Lord, I ask that you destroy all witchcraft and any idols I worshipped like you did in Micah chapter 5. In the Name of Jesus, I break all witchcraft, divination and worship of false gods. Help me to love you alone, in Jesus’ Name, Amen

ROOT SPIRIT 10 – ERROR:

Irresponsibility - Immaturity - Inappropriateness - Confusion - Eating disorders - Doubt - Unbelief - False tongues – Racism - Deception - Bad decisions - Compromise Freemasonry - Intellectualism - Cults - False doctrines - False prophets.

“We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” - I John 4:6 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 10 – ERROR:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name knowing that I've been deceived into error by Satan. Forgive me and heal the wounds that have been caused by this error. Satan, I demand you to release me from the stronghold of error. As it says in John chapter 8, I pray that Jesus' truth would set me free. Christ died to free me, so the devil has no legal right over my life. I pray that you would release me from all blindness and all deception. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can be all that I am called to be, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 11 – STUPOR:

Over-fatigue - Passivity – Lethargic - Disengaged - Procrastination - Hypnotism - Self pity - Escapism - Blocks success - Withdrawn - Suicidal - Spirit asleep

“Just as it is written: “God has given them a spirit of stupor” - Romans 11:8 NKJV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 11 – STUPOR:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. I now realize that I have been overcome by stupor. I ask that you restore what has been stolen. Satan, I demand that you release me from the stronghold of stupor. As it says in Psalms 119, I pray that you would open my eyes to see the wondrous things from your law. So, I thank You Lord for opening the eyes of my spirit, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

ROOT SPIRIT 12 – DEATH:

Murder - Fear of death - Suicidal thoughts - Suicidal tendencies - Death fascination - Manslaughter

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” - Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV

RENOUNCEMENT PRAYER 12 – DEATH:

Dear God, I come to you in Jesus’ Name confessing that I've sinned against you and deserve death. But through Jesus' death on the cross, we are forgiven and have life. Satan, I demand that you release me from the spirit of death. As it is written in Hebrews 2, the power of death has no hold on me. This is because I have died to myself and I'm alive in Christ. Satan, the power of death has been destroyed by Jesus’ death on the cross. So, thank You, Lord, for the life I have found in You, in Jesus’ Name, I pray Amen.
