DAY 4 OF 7

LOOK TO GOD

While he was playing one day, a boy fell and lost one of his contact lenses. He searched through the grass for forty minutes and could not find it. Finally, he gave up and went to his mother. His mom searched and, in three minutes, found the contact. The boy said, “Mom, I looked for so long and couldn’t find that contact. How could you find it so quickly?”

The mother said, “We were looking for two different things. You were looking for a piece of plastic. I was looking for the hundred and fifty dollars I spent buying it.”

When you’re going through hard times, it’s tempting to focus on the difficulty itself. However, focusing on your hardship will not help you rebuild. Instead, when you are suffering, look for comfort from what you cannot see. Since God is the God of all comfort, He is the One you should look at when you need comfort. Are you dealing with something right now that needs the loving comfort of God? Turn to Him first. Because sometimes, He’s the only thing that makes any sense.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.

II CORINTHIANS 1:3

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

ISAIAH 43:2

For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

II CORINTHIANS 4:17–18

God of all comfort, I’m sorry for the times I’ve focused on only the things I can see. Help me to fix my eyes on You in faith, no matter what.
