Have you ever made an impulsive decision? You might have made it without really thinking about it. You didn’t give yourself a chance to consider if it was best or what the outcome would be; you just jumped in! While those kinds of decisions can turn out okay, they often lead to unexpected outcomes. Why? Because we didn’t give ourselves time to consider where that path might take us before we started walking on it. The writer of Proverbs, a book full of wisdom in the Bible, encourages us to avoid impulsive decisions and to trust God to guide us instead. When we do that—when we let God speak into the choices and changes in our lives—we can trust that if we listen, we’ll walk forward toward God’s best for us.
