Elevate: Raising the Bar for Conversations About Political TensionsSample
Whenever someone else is in your presence or on your mind, you can use those as cues to serve them. See their image in your mind as an opportunity to serve them. What if we became sensitive to something as simple as, “I see you…” or, “I thought about you…”? It’s easier said than done, isn’t it? Sometimes we’d rather fight or tear down those who come to mind rather than serve or support them. And sometimes, we’d rather ignore the Holy Spirit’s prompting to do something for someone else without any expectation. It might be that we need to change our mindset before we change our actions. Here’s what you can do: Think about how you feel after someone shows you kindness. It’s always good, right? Well, you get to be that for someone else today. It’s something you get to do as a follower of Jesus, not something you have to do.
Remember, you can always choose to serve those around you or on your mind because kindness is a choice.
