Neighbor, Love Yourself

DAY 3 OF 5

LOOK TO THE FINISH LINE

God has destined us for great things, but many of us have not started yet. We struggle to see the talent inside ourselves because our deepest dreams lie dormant. We aren’t completing the work we were made to do on the outside because we haven’t realized on the inside that we are capable of this work. Disconnected from our dreams, we are unknowingly living at half capacity.

If you struggle to believe in yourself, your capabilities, or your worth, maybe picturing the finish line will help you crawl across the starting line. A publisher is waiting to publish the book you need to write. A company is waiting to mail the offer letter for the dream job you need to apply for. Wedding invitations are waiting to be sent out, announcing your big day, but you need to ask the person on a date first. Imagining yourself completing these things can be a first step across the starting line.

God gives us the ability to picture our futures so we know what we are running after. What are the things you want to complete? Scripture says to throw off anything standing in our way, especially if it is sin-related.

Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3)

The starter pistol is raised, and you are standing in the blocks. Your race has begun. You have a cloud of witnesses cheering you on, and Jesus waits to welcome you at the finish line.

Run.

Are there any burdens weighing you down as you stand at the starting line? How can you throw these off?

About this Plan

Neighbor, Love Yourself

In Scripture we’re told to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:34-40). Yet many of us don’t love ourselves, at least not as much as God intends, and this affects how we live. These devotionals are for anyone who wishes to feel more fulfilled and wants to become the person God created them to be.
