Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me (Jonah 1:2).
Have you been given a second chance to make a first impression?
God calls Jonah to stand up, step up, and speak up for God. Quickly the disobedient prophet learns that sidestepping God's command brings you down. First, Jonah descends to the bottom of a ship to escape the Lord's command (Jonah 1:3). Next, he is hurled into the Mediterranean Sea to save the crew. He recounts how low he could go: "For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the floods surrounded me" (Jonah 2:3). Although the sailors literally hurl Jonah into the sea, he attributes their action to God. The Lord supernaturally rescues the drowning prophet and gives him a second chance to make a first impression. He gives the same command to the humbled prophet a second time (Jonah 3:2).
Employment Point: Stand up, step up, and speak up for God.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
