Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Are you laboring to the point of perspiration for Jesus?
Paul chooses the word “therefore” to conclude the longest chapter in the Bible on the topic of resurrection. The Greek construction gives us the meaning of conclusion. He concludes that since we are assured of victory over death through Jesus’ resurrection that we are now to labor diligently for Him not allowing anything to distract us from the ministry. We don’t fight for victory as Christians but from victory because of Jesus. Paul proclaims, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Serve Him well, knowing that He’ll return to reward you; your labor truly is not in vain!
Employment Point: Be loyal to the Lord’s work, because you are a victor through Jesus.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
