Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample
I have made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I look upon a young woman? (Job 31:1).
Have you dedicated your eyes to the Lord?
Jesus makes a connection between the eyes and the heart in Matthew 5:28. He states, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Jesus then uses hyperbole to show how much we should protect our hearts. He adds, “If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for the whole body to be cast into hell” (Matthew 5:28). We must protect our hearts at all costs. Wisdom cries out, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
Employment Point: Dedicate your eyes to glorify the Lord.

About this Plan
Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
