The Apostle's Fast in the Ancient Faith

DAY 10 OF 12

Day 10: Embracing Love, Joy, and Peace in the Journey of Faith

Today, as we begin to conclude our journey through the Apostle's Fast, we reflect on the rich tapestry of virtues we've explored: Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering or Patience, Meekness or Kindness, Goodness, Faith, Gentleness, and Temperance. Each day has offered us a unique lens through which to view our spiritual lives, challenging us to grow deeper in our relationship with God and with one another.

Love has been our starting point, the foundation upon which all other virtues are built. We've been reminded that to love as Christ loves means to lay down our lives for others, serving them with a selfless heart. As we navigate the complexities of life, let us be guided by the principle of love, extending kindness, compassion, and forgiveness to all whom we encounter. Actionable Item: Commit to one act of selfless love each day, whether it's a kind word, a helping hand, or a prayer for someone in need.

Joy has taught us that true happiness is found not in our circumstances but in our relationship with God. Despite the trials we face, we can rejoice in the Lord always. A fruit of the Spirit that transcends circumstances and fills our hearts with divine contentment, we recall the joy exhibited by the apostles in the face of trials and persecution and we are challenged to cultivate a spirit of rejoicing in all situations. Let us embrace joy as a testimony to our faith in God's providence and grace, finding solace in His unfailing love. Actionable Item: Each morning, write down three things for which you are grateful, focusing on the blessings God has given you.

Peace has called us to be peacemakers in a world of conflict, seeking reconciliation and harmony. We've learned that peace begins in our own hearts, through our trust in God's providence. Drawing inspiration from the peace that surpasses understanding, we are encouraged to anchor our souls in Christ, the Prince of Peace. As we reflect on the lives of the apostles and the wisdom of the Early Church Fathers, let us pursue peace with fervor, resolving conflicts with humility and grace. Actionable Item: Practice daily prayer or meditation, asking God to fill you with His peace and to use you as an instrument of peace in your community.

As we reflect on these virtues, we recognize that they are not merely ideals to aspire to but practical expressions of our faith in action. They are the fruit of the Spirit, growing within us as we abide in Christ and seek to follow Him more closely and then ultimately this fruit will mature and ripen, blossoming for all to see Christ in us.

Our journey through the Apostle's Fast may have come to an end, but our journey of faith continues. Let us move forward with hearts full of love, joy, peace, and all the virtues we've explored, committed to living out our faith in tangible, meaningful ways. May we be filled spiritually, not just today but every day, as we walk in the footsteps of the apostles and saints who have gone before us, guided by the Spirit and sustained by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, as we conclude this journey through the Apostle's Fast, we thank You for the lessons You have taught us and the growth You have inspired in us. Help us to carry these virtues with us into our daily lives, reflecting Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in all that we do. May our lives be a testament to Your grace, drawing others to You and building up Your kingdom on earth. Amen.
