Waiting Through Advent With IsaiahSample

Waiting Through Advent With Isaiah

DAY 1 OF 29

The book of Isaiah is amazing. Isaiah is a prophet who receives a vision from God and is sent to warn God's people- the Israelites- of impending doom. It was a dark time in Israel (the Northern Kingdom) and Judah (the Southern Kingdom). God's people had been unfaithful for generations and judgement was coming.

Alongside the message of judgement, Isaiah also has the privilege of speaking words of future hope and a coming Messiah. But there would be waiting and hoping in between his words and the fulfillment.

That makes this the perfect book for Advent.

God's people in Isaiah's time looked forward to the relief a Messiah would bring.

We look backwards and see the hope and possibilities the Messiah's coming did bring.

Through Isaiah's eyes:

We see God judging His people.

We see God mourning that He has to judge.

We see Him promise a future for them.

We see his compassion.

We will see how we live in the now and the not yet.

Today spend some time asking God to teach you through the study of this book. Ask the Spirit to draw you close during this Advent season.

About this Plan

Waiting Through Advent With Isaiah

As we head into the season of Advent, it’s easy to be swept away with all the plans of Christmas, family times, food, and gifts. It's also full of emotions, pain, and loss for many of us. Advent is a season of waiting. Trusting in a good God who holds our times and seasons. Advent. Wait. Hope.
