Make Room, Giving Jesus Space to Fully Transform Your Heart and LifeSample
Welcome Jesus Fully In
CONSIDER
There's something about inviting someone into your home that deepens your relationship with them. Letting someone into your space conveys, “I trust you.” Showing up in their space says, “I value this relationship.”
If the purpose of our relationship with Jesus is to become more like Him (which it is), then a surface relationship with Him will never do. We can’t become like Him if he’s still knocking outside our door. We must fully welcome Him in.
SCRIPTURE
Create the Space
Jesus says that when we open the door to Him, He’ll come in and eat with us. What are some things a person does when having a guest over for dinner? They decide on the meal and prepare it, set the table, etc. What would it look like for you to prepare a space for Jesus?
Let’s consider where, what, and when.
1. CHOOSE A PLACE: Make a space for meeting with Jesus daily. Consider things that will help you connect more deeply with Him - your Bible, maybe some highlighters, a notebook, and a pen.
2. SET A TIME: Determine when you will meet with Jesus daily and stick to it. I can’t recommend making Him the first part of your day enough. It might mean setting your alarm a little earlier, but it will be the best investment you can make for the day ahead.
3. HAVE A PLAN: Make a plan for what you’ll do in your space. There are countless things you can do. Here are a few ideas to help you get started.
- Study a book or chapter of the Bible
- Work on Scripture memorization
- Follow a Bible reading plan
- Copy a chapter of the Bible
The final verse of the Scripture we’ve been examining holds a promise: the door you open to Jesus doesn’t just give Him space in your home; it also gives you a place in His. I want a place there. I want you to have a place there too. Let’s conquer together! Let’s let Jesus fully in.
CONNECT with GOD
Write down your place, time, and plan. Commit your plan to God and ask Him to meet you there each day.
CONNECT with OTHERS
Tell someone about your plan. Ask them to be someone you can share the things God shows you during your time with Him.
