DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: Breaking the Power of Lies

Now it’s your opportunity to get rid of the debilitating lies. Whether that is hating your body or not wanting to be naked in front of your spouse. Or maybe you have believed another lie about yourself that is completely different from body image. Whatever it may be, God wants you to be fully free! Do you know what a vow is? It is a verbal or nonverbal declaration about how you will or will not live out your life. It becomes a binding belief system that guides your life and behavior. Here is an example of a vow. I know a woman who stood in the middle of her kitchen at the age of 15 years old and, for various reasons, said, “I never want to have kids!” She grew up, married and began trying to conceive a child; but for years she was unable to get pregnant. As she sought the Lord about this problem, He reminded her of what she had spoken out when she was 15 years old. Armed with this revelation, she broke the power of the vow (just like you are going to do with the “hatred of your body” lies), and she got pregnant soon after! Our words can be binding: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). One of the most destructive aspects of making a vow is that we put that area of our life under our own control and leave God out.

Ponder & Pray: Lord, bring to my mind any vows I have made about my body. Take a moment to listen then pray based on what you have heard.

Activation:

If the Lord shows you any vows you have come into agreement with, pray the following:

I nail the vow_______ to the cross of Jesus.

I break all agreements I made with this vow, in the name of Jesus and I command it away from me in Jesus’ name.

You may need to do this several times if the Lord reveals to you more than one vow (Don’t rush this; it’s important). When you are finished with the vows, you can proceed with the lies.

Father, I also ask that ou send away the lies “I hate my body” and “I don’t want to be naked in front of my spouse” from me right now.

Lord, as You send these lies away from me, what do You want me to know about how You see my body? (Stop and listen; this is a very important step.)

Make sure to write down whatever the Lord gives you (He may speak in the form of a picture, thought, or a feeling).

Thank You, Jesus. I receive and believe Your word to me about how You see me.
