DAY 8 OF 28

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!

S: Scripture

If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.

O: Observation

Read 2 Corinthians 1:3–7 again.

  • What stands out to you?
  • What does this passage teach us about suffering and comfort?
  • What questions do you still have?

A: Application

  • How does this passage challenge your viewpoint on the purpose of hardship?
  • What's something difficult you've gone through that you can now use your experience to comfort others?
  • Peace doesn't always mean everything is okay. How could you ask Jesus for peace in the midst of pain?

P: Prayer

Spend some time in prayer about an area of your life where you need comfort. Talk to God about what peace would look like in that situation. Then, say thank you for all the ways God provides comfort and compassion in the midst of suffering.

About this Plan

From Now On

During his time on Earth, Jesus' message was clear—from now on, things will be different. Jesus spent his life showing people how God wanted to connect with them and help them connect with each other. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore stories from the Gospels and discover the life Jesus invites us into and how following Jesus can completely change our lives.
