DAY 4 OF 5

We live in a world that celebrates more: more clothes, more money, more likes. A person’s status is often measured by how well they can keep up with what’s trending. But living this way is something the Bible warns against – a lot.

Luke 12:15 for example, tells us to “guard against every kind of greed” and reminds us that “Life is not measured by how much you own.” Matthew 6:21 puts it another way: “Where your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” The things we choose to spend our money on (or not) can say a lot about our hearts and our relationship with Jesus. Jesus’ first followers in Acts knew this, which is why they chose radical generosity instead, selling everything they owned and giving the money to the poor.

How could God use you to bless someone else with your generosity? Maybe by taking some of your birthday money from your Grandma and giving it to your church, or using your free time on Saturday to help your parents clean or do yard work. As you allow him to challenge you in this way, you might be surprised how your heart and perspective begin to change!
