Celebrating Your Baptism

DAY 16 OF 30

As we journey into the final chapters of John, I pray you will continue to observe a daily habit of reading God’s Word! You are only seven days away from solidifying a habit that will help you for the rest of your life. These habits are part of the sanctification process.

As we’ve discussed, you have been justified by your faith in Jesus Christ, meaning your sins were wiped away. While sin left a scar on your life, Jesus wants to remake and restore you, making you more like Him in the process - that is sanctification.

Until now, we have encountered some fantastic teachings and miracles from Jesus. We are finishing His journey on earth, culminating with the ultimate expression of His love for us by dying on the cross.

In the previous weeks, we saw the “I Am” statements from Jesus. He declared Himself to be the bread of life, the light of the world, the door, the good shepherd, the resurrection and the life and the way, the truth, and the life.

During the first chapter of this week, chapter 15, you will see the final “I Am” statement where Jesus declares He is the vine and we are the branches. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. If this statement is true, the opposite must also be true. If He is the vine and we are the branches, anything is possible when connected to Him.

How long would a branch remain alive if it wasn’t connected to the vine? We need to be nourished by our relationship with Jesus daily, as a branch needs it from the vine. Take a moment and tell Jesus how important your relationship is with Him today.
