Prayer, a Privilege!Sample
Jesus’ teaching on prayer
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:6 NIV).
Where and how do you find enough peace to talk to God? As the Son of God, Jesus regularly sought communion with His Heavenly Father. We read in the Bible several times that He retreated into the silence of the mountains or the fields for this purpose. For their personal prayer, Jesus told His disciples to find the quietest place in the house. In those days, that could well be the storeroom. Besides supplies, valuable possessions were also kept here.
By this, Jesus meant that prayer does not need a 'display.' Personal prayer does not need an audience or a place where you can be seen. It is about the words you want to utter to God from your heart. Nor do these have to be beautiful words that might impress people. Praying in a room where others are also present, or praying together with others does not conflict with this advice. But to have your own private conversation with God, quietness and seclusion are very helpful. And that reward? In whatever place you pray, even in the most hidden place, God hears, sees and understands you. And He will let you know that He does.
Prayer: Thank You, Father for seeing and hearing me wherever I am.
