Praying in the FireSample
Day #5: Prayer for Unity!
Unity in first responder marriages and unity among first responders and believers is crucial. Support is so important in this line of work. Peer support and support in marriage are two overlooked elements that are life-changing and if not-present, life-shattering.
Today we pray for and lift up first responder marriages. While we know the divorce statistics are high in first responder families, we also know that God can use our struggles for good. We know that God can use the nights apart to make us appreciate one another more. May God guide us to keep the flame burning bright in our marriage and to put our relationship with Him as a top priority.
We also pray for all first responders. May the bond between all first responders remain strong. We pray that God would place a hedge of protection around our community heroes. May they have the wisdom they need to make split-second decisions. May they have the strength they need to run toward danger while others run from it.
I pray that we can all be emotional and spiritual first responders to our spouse as they navigate the hurt and heartache that comes their way. May our marriages remain strong, faith remain a priority, may we not be afraid to support/encourage one another, and ask for help when we need it.
Utilize your support system.
Pray for and support your spouse.
Be there for them. Offer grace, when needed.
Spend time in God’s Word and in prayer together.
Make time for quality time together.
Try not to let your thoughts run rampant when they are in harm’s way – pray, pray, pray!
Pray that God would place a hedge of protection around your family, your first responder, your community, and our world.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and use you to minister to the emotional wounds of those around you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Please help my marriage soar because we turn to you in times of brokenness. Please help us to be partners who pray, spend time in Your Word together, and make time for one another (even when it's difficult). Please guide me in knowing how to support my spouse after a difficult call. Please give me the strength to hold things down at home while he's away. Please help me to run to You when things are difficult, and when my anxiety is at an all-time high. Please place a hedge of protection around first responder families, our community, and our world. Please help us to turn to You when times feel desperate and hopeless.
Please re-ignite the flame of my faith, the flame in my marriage, and in my heart to care for the hurting.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
