God's Redemption Story (The Prophets)

DAY 36 OF 40

Amos

Be honest. Is your God a kitten or a lion?

God is not weak, nor soft, nor someone to be played with. He is fierce, faithful, and powerful. Yet, despite seeing God’s power time and time again, Israel still viewed him as a kitten who didn’t mind sin. They treated each other without respect, they valued wealth over righteousness, and they did things their own way instead of God’s way.

In the book of Amos, Israel is warned that God is, in fact, a lion who roars against sin! Yes, Jesus is known as the lamb of God, but He is also known as the Lion of Judah. In grace and mercy, He sacrificed Himself on the cross to take on our punishment but also roared in judgment against sin.
