Have nothing to do with such people.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="2TI.3.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="2TI.3.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="2TI.3.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="2TI.3.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="2TI.3.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">A Final Charge to Timothy</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="2TI.3.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="2TI.3.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="2TI.3.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">persecutions, sufferings&#8212;what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. And Jotham his son succeeded him as king.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Zechariah King of Israel</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="2KI.15.7"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="2KI.15.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned six months. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="2KI.15.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">He did evil in the eyes of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">, as his predecessors had done. He sacked Tiphsah and ripped open all the pregnant women.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Menahem King of Israel</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="2KI.15.16"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="2KI.15.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria ten years. </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="2KI.15.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">He did evil in the eyes of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">15:20 </span><span class="ft">That is, about 1 1/4 pounds or about 575 grams</span></span></span><span class="content"> of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. Come up and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram and of the king of Israel, who are attacking me.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="2KI.16.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">And Ahaz took the silver and gold found in the temple of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> and in the treasuries of the royal palace and sent it as a gift to the king of Assyria. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="2KI.16.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">The king of Assyria complied by attacking Damascus and capturing it. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="2KI.16.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="2KI.16.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. Splash against this altar the blood of all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.
