Experts say that humans suffer from three kinds of fear: 1) External fears, like the fear of flying, or the fear of cats, 2) Internal fears, those in which we doubt our ability to do or have something. Internal fears can lead to feelings of inadequacy or insecurity, and 3) Subconscious fears, those we subconsciously accept as real, like feeling we cannot be successful. Those fears can prevent us from achieving. We all have certain fears. Our challenge is to learn how to control them. Christ offers Himself as an unfailing resource. As we come to Him and rely on Him, His Spirit helps us conquer our fears. It was Sunday evening of the Resurrection day. The disciples were behind locked doors, fearful of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” He said. This phrase means, "May you have total well-being and inner-rest of your spirit." As He spoke, He showed them the wounds in His hands and side. By doing this, Jesus assured His disciples that He was not a phantom. He was fully human. He had conquered death. Joy filled their hearts when they saw the Lord! He spoke again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” Jesus was sending them and us on a mission. We are to share the news that people who turn to Him can be born again and enjoy His peace. Jesus can give us peace because He is the Prince of Peace.
