DAY 150 OF 365

In 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus. Her refusal ignited the Civil Rights Movement. She said, “I did not feel any fear sitting there. I felt the Lord would give me the strength to endure whatever I had to face.” Faith in God was one of the reasons Rahab risked her life to save the spies years ago. Joshua had sent the spies to check out the land they expected to conquer. The intelligence Rahab provided them revealed that her people had lost all courage. Conceivably, their alienation from God had produced fear in their hearts. But Rahab was convinced that Almighty God was giving Israel the victory. So she risked her life because of her faith in God. She refused to divulge the whereabouts of the spies. She hung a scarlet rope out of her window to identify her house when the invading soldiers arrived, and she brought all her relatives into her house for protection. The invading soldiers kept their promise to preserve her. Faith in God gave Rahab the courage to do what she did—just as faith in God gave Rosa Parks courage to do what she did. When we enjoy a relationship with God through Jesus Christ our Lord, and when we seek to do the will of God, He enables us to endure seemingly impossible difficulties.
