Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 120 OF 365

New Christian believers—and sometimes older ones—stumble in their faith. It can happen when outsiders ridicule their faith. The Apostle Paul feared that new believers in Thessalonica might fall away because of persecution. In his second letter, chapter 2, he wrote to assure them that their decision to identify with Jesus Christ was a good one. He assured them that standing firm in their faith not only pleased God; it caused others to become confident by their firmness. He then reminded them of some of the wonderful things God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit does for us in salvation. God loves us very much, and His love did not just start; God loved us from eternity and chose us to be His very own. God loved us so much that to pay our sin debt, God sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross. God's Spirit is also involved in our salvation. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes into our body and gives us new life. He places us into the family of God. He puts God's ownership seal upon us; this guarantees us that we will one day receive new bodies that cannot die. The Spirit is always available to help us in all our activities; He empowers us to do what God asks of us. Based on all that God has already done for us, is doing for us now, and all that He plans to do for us in the future, we can rely on these truths when we are tempted to stumble in our faith.
