Continuous Revelation Flows at the Heart of GodSample

Now that we’ve looked at all these amazing truths and you’ve read about what the Bible says on revelation, you can still think: nice, but I don’t see that in my life. That’s why I want to look at a few causes that may obstruct revelation. Do you know what is so great? God knows about those obstructions, so He gives us keys in His Word on how to deal with that. Open your heart and let God speak to you while you’re reading this.

A prideful and indifferent heart obstructs revelation. This sounds blunt and maybe you think: I don’t have that, but it can enter in in a very sneaky way. A proud and indifferent heart says: ‘I already know this or I already heard this.’ You trust your own knowledge and understanding more than the ability of the Holy Spirit to reveal something new to you. Especially people who are walking with God for quite some time can have this harsh little layer around their hearts. The good news is that you can repent from that.

Disobedience is another obstruction. You read in the Bible of people who knew Who Jesus was, but they denied Him or did nothing with the revelation they received earlier. Jesus invited them to step out of this heart condition, but when they refused, He said downright: ‘I won’t tell you anymore about Who I am.’ The word obedience gives lots of people an itch because of their association with suppression and domination. But obedience to God is out of free will and will always lead us to more freedom. Obedience is a love language of God. And, come on: if God has given you revelation and you do nothing with it, why would He give you more? First, He’ll teach you how you may deal with it and then He’ll give you so much more. That’s one of God’s principles. Furthermore, obedience to the Word of God will position you for the Rhema word of God. Some people always want something particular, mysterious and special, but haven’t opened the Bible in ages. This kind of revelation will usually stop, because God never replaces His Word for something else. The other way around is also true: revelation will increase if you live God's Word. For many people their minds have become their safety, and what they can’t understand doesn’t exist. This also obstructs revelation. You kind of already have decided how God has to speak and if that happens in a different way you’ll miss it, because your heart and eyes are closed to it. But there’s good news! God's goodness leads us into repentance and He is always merciful and gracious to everyone who repents of these things. So, what are you waiting for? There is a flow of revelation available to you!

Take time to bring the things above to God. He waits for you. Not empty-handed but with new revelation to give to you.
