You Are Big Now

Don't you just hate windbags who are full of themselves? I love being with humble people. They just seem more real and more approachable. They don't make me feel inferior. With them I don't feel pressure to perform or pretend to be somebody I'm not.

But you know there's also such a thing as false humility. Most of us are slick enough to feign ignorance or ineptitude when a job is coming that we don't like. Have you ever, like Jeremiah, tried to evade a grown-up role in God's kingdom work with the ol' modesty routine? "'Ah, Sovereign LORD,' I said, 'I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.' But the LORD said to me, 'Do not say, "I am only a child." You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you'" (Jeremiah 1:6,7).

Quit making excuses. Stop thinking of yourself as a spiritual child. Grow up. Get some training. Join us and be part of God's rescue team.
