Draw From Heaven's Well: Live and Lead From StrengthSample
When we’re feeling exhausted and drained, the Lord invites us to refresh our weary souls in the River of Life flowing from His throne. Revelation 22:1-2reminds us, “And he pointed out to me a river of pure Water of Life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb, coursing down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew Trees of Life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month; the leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations” (TLB).
Twenty-four years ago, our family adopted a ten-year-old Ukrainian girl. Before coming to our home, her Ukrainian parents and first adoptive American parents rejected her. Her deep pain of rejection imprisoned her mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Her emptiness drained and exhausted me, bringing me to the end of my parenting skills. Learning of our challenges with her, the adoption agency offered to return her to Ukraine. I knew another rejection was not the answer!I cried out to the Lord for His help. Like the trees in Revelation 22, I had to put my roots deep into His river, trusting the Lord that His healing river and our love would reach her. She has grown into a beautiful young woman who has received Jesus and loves her family.
The Lord is calling, “Come, I know you are exhausted. Come, I know you are weary. Come, I know you’re hurting. Come, I will give you rest.” His reflection in the crystal clear water beckons us to enter His River of Life.
Accepting His invitation opens our hearts and souls to His refreshing life. Stepping into His pristine river, we discover that going ankle-deep is not enough. Going knee-deep is not enough, and going waist-deep is not enough. We must move deeper to release control. When we yield completely to the River’s life-current, it frees us from fear, insecurity, hurt, and frustration. His river, pulsing with life, infuses us with fresh faith, security, healing, and joy.
God’s endless well is His River of Life!
