Listen before you speak
Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.
Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise. Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but those who heed correction gain understanding.
Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.
Stop listening to instruction, my child, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.
Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.
