Priesthood of Every BelieverSample
Lesson 7: Priesthood and Serving
Galatians 5:13 calls believers to use their freedom in Christ not for self-indulgence but to serve one another humbly in love. As members of a royal priesthood, we're not only called to represent God on Earth and mediate His presence but also to embody His servanthood. Serving others is not a mere act of charity; it's an integral part of our identity in Christ, reflecting His character and mission.
Jesus Christ, our High Priest, set the ultimate example of service by washing His disciples' feet, a task reserved for the lowest servant. He lived and died for others, and His ministry was marked by acts of compassion, healing, and teaching. Following in His footsteps, our service is a tangible expression of love, a sacrificial giving of ourselves for the benefit of others. It's about putting the needs of others before our own, including the spiritual needs of the unreached groups of the world.
Serving in love challenges the worldly notions of hierarchy and status. It reinforces the biblical truth that in Christ's body, there is no clergy-laity divide; every believer is called to minister and serve according to the gifts God has given them. This democratization of service empowers each of us to contribute to the building up of the church and the advancement of God's kingdom on Earth.
Action Step: Reflect on the needs of the unreached world and their need for the gospel. God has brought millions of unreached within reach of our faith communities. If you are looking for the unreached that God has brought to North America. You can learn more at UPGNorthAmerica.com .
