Overcoming: Devotions from Time of GraceSample
Confusion During Times of Loss
Ever been blindsided by a personal disaster? Sometimes trouble brews slowly, and you can see it coming. But other times the blow falls without any warning. You are given a cancer diagnosis . . . a tragic car accident leaves you or a loved one disabled.
The loss is bad enough. What makes it worse is the fog of confusion. A sudden loss can really disrupt your peace of mind. Why didn't God stop this from happening?
God is not only in control of the universe in general, but he is
closely monitoring your life in particular. He takes inventory of every hair on your head. He further promises to make absolutely every one of your life experiences--the joyful ones and the miserable ones--work for you.
Here's an unshakable rock you can stand on, written by a man who experienced plenty of hardships: "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). Did you get that? At this very moment, God is working for your good.
