Journal Exercise

Luke began his gospel with Jesus announcing that he had come to preach the good news from God. Jesus appointed the first twelve, and then seventy-two others to join him in the Mission. At the end of the gospel one hundred and twenty had assembled. Luke began the Acts of the Apostles with the Lord Jesus commanding his disciples to continue to preach the good news from God. He traced the gospel progress from Jerusalem, through Judea and Samaria, through Galatia, Asia Minor, Greece and finally to Rome. He finished Acts in an open-ended fashion: Paul, under house arrest, "boldly and without hindrance preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ' The gospel must continue to be preached and Christ's saving work be done.

Pray about the following matters alone before God:

1. Three people who have not yet believed in Jesus Christ, that they will hear the gospel and repent.
2. Three networks in your society where Christian fellowships have not yet been formed. Pray that God will raise up willing and able men and women to take the gospel there.
3. Three people whom God may be calling to gospel ministry. Pray that they will be stirred to respond to the need.
4. Three countries where you really want the gospel to bear fruit. Pray that God will create faithful Christian fellowships, congregations and churches obediently living out and teaching God's word there so that his people can be nurtured and grow in their faith.
