One of my all-time favourite songs is ‘Indescribable’ by Chris Tomlin.
if you have never heard it before add it to the playlist because this song beautifully captures how to live in awestruck wonder of God.
The lyrics go like this-
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
THIS IS OUR GOD (sorry it felt like an all-caps moment)
Too often I see people place God in a nice neat little box and bring Him out for show and tell church on Sundays, but if we truly lived in awestruck wonder of Him there is nothing that could contain Him, so why try?
We search for answers to questions that cannot be given this side of Heaven.
We seek meaning in man-made solutions when he is the ultimate Creator.
We strive in our own strength instead of relying on the all-powerful God.
When we live in reverence of God we live in full understanding of His power and authority and rely on Him, but when we live in reference to God, we only know it.
Are you relying on His uncontainable, all-powerful presence, or do you just know about it?
Acts 2 describes the early church as ‘filled with awe’. They were full of expectation, and hope, devoted to one another, to prayer, to scripture, and to God.
They were living it and because of this, they were awestruck.
Are you in awe of God, or are you a little over it?
Has Faith fatigue set in?
Is God in a nice neat little box in your life?
I pray that today's scriptures awaken awestruck wonder in your life for our untameable and unshakable God.
… And Chris if you ever read this, I’m a fan! Thanks for the song!
