Holy Saturday
I always remember having such a weird feeling on the day before a big holiday. With Christmas Eve there is a little bit of a celebration, but even still, there seems to be a lull before the excitement. All these expectations had reached a fever pitch and were about to be met.
For the disciples, the day after Jesus’ crucifixion was the lowest point of their lives. All their hopes and expectations for Jesus as the Messiah were killed on a cross. In addition, since Jesus had died the day before the Jewish Sabbath, the people had to wait a full day before they could really take care and tend to the body of Christ because of certain rules for the Sabbath day. This day for the followers of Jesus stood as a pause in their lives. They had just watched their close friend and mentor, who they had followed, who they had believed would be the long-awaited Messiah, die a criminal and cursed death. What were they to do now? What would you do? One thing they could do is mourn and grieve the loss of Christ. Today we know that now is a time of mourning but joy comes in the morning. So as you go through today do not let it be a lull but a preparation for the joy of tomorrow!

About this Plan
Join us as we seek to engage in Holy Week in a more meaningful way. These devotionals will have verses associated with what Christ did each day leading up to the crucifixion. As well as ways that you can personally reflect and act on what you have read.
