How to Heal from Pain
Unfortunately pain is no stranger to any of us, though it is something we all desperately wish we could avoid.
The first step to healing from life’s painful blows is to accept the truth about what pain really is: a reminder of life. Pain is the evidence that we are still alive, and therefore we can do something about it. Pain is the alarm that warns us when something is wrong so we can address it and remain alive.
The same way that pain is evidence of life, it is also an assurance of hope. Therefore whenever pain strikes, it is telling us we still have space for hope because we’re still here, alive, surviving, and soon to be thriving.
Scripture is key to understanding the meaning of hope. Hope keeps our souls together when everything else seems to be falling apart. Hope is an anchor that keeps us steady in the storms of life. But hope often comes as a result of painful situations. Hope helps us hang in there through all the pain that is inevitable in life.
Pain was designed to produce hope; hope, in turn, keeps us leveled when in pain. Put simply, both pain and hope help us grow closer to God.
