A great friendship doesn’t just happen by accident. You need to build great friendships. When you build a house, you don’t start with the roof! First, you begin by laying strong and solid foundations. If you don’t build strong foundations, your house won’t stand for long; it will be wobbly and fall over at the first storm that blows through. It’s the same with our friendships; we must build friendships with solid foundations! Block by block, a friendship is built. What are the building blocks of a friendship?

Friendships are built on love for one another. Friends love one another at all times and through all seasons. Another building block to a great friendship is kindness and compassion. Friends don’t hold onto hurts; they forgive one another! Another wise building block of friendship is putting the other person first. Friends look out for one another and serve one another.

You can either build a friendship with wisdom or tear it down by ignoring the wisdom found in God’s Word. God’s Word gives us wisdom for life. We are wise when we build great friendships, brick by brick, on a solid foundation.
