A Fresh PerspectiveSample
Change your perspective!
Today I would like to go into more detail about how much power there is in speaking God's Word when we are attacked by the devil in our weakness.
Several times Jesus answered the devil, who tried to bring him down, “It is written…” (Luke 4:4 NIV)
One phrase, three words. An inconceivable, unbelievable power!
The devil loses his power to fight you when you answer with God's Word!
Yes, he loves to fight against you! But he gives up when he has to fight against God, because he knows he has already lost this fight!
1. When the devil wants to discourage you…
Answer with: "It is written…” — “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” (Psalm 126:5-6 NIV)
2. When the devil reminds you of your past…
Respond with, "It is written…”— “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
3. When the devil says, "You will never get rid of your depression"...
Respond with, "It is written…” — “...Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded, declares the Lord.” This is for you!" (see Jeremiah 31:16 NIV)
4. When the devil is telling you that no one will help you…
Respond with, "It is written…” — “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:2 NIV)
I could show you a thousand more examples! There is an answer to all your questions in the Bible. "To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his." (Job 12:13 NIV)
That's why we need this change of perspective again and again. We often don't have the answers—but God does!
We have heard so many Bible verses today, but that is exactly what we need! Let's pray one more Psalm together to close:
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” Amen. (Psalm 143:8 NIV)
You are a miracle!
