The Death and Resurrection of the KingSample
Jesus conquered death
“But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, as He said.’” (Matthew 28:5-6)
What amazing words we get to read today. Jesus has not remained in the tomb, He has risen! I can well understand that this message left the women frightened and very happy at the same time. What unbelievably good news!
These words, spoken by an angel, were just the beginning. As the women set out to share the news with other followers of Jesus, they met Him in person. Suddenly, He stood before them! This encounter removed their confusion and allowed their joy to even grow further.
These women had witnessed Jesus' suffering and death. They had seen Him buried, and now that the Sabbath was over they came again to the tomb to further care for His body and mourn Him. But He was no longer dead. These women became the first witnesses of His resurrection!
The women were told to pass on the wonderful news to the other disciples. These were later commissioned to tell all nations about the Lord Jesus. And now, centuries later, we may do the same. Because everyone needs to know that Jesus is alive! He conquered death!
Has this good news already changed your life? With whom can you share it?
