Praying for a Miracle

DAY 3 OF 5

When God Answers "Yes" to Your Miracle

A miracle is God intervening in your or someone else’s life to change the present circumstances. You are asking God to change the very fabric of reality. So, when you need a miracle of this magnitude to confront a massive problem in your life, you must begin by reminding yourself of the immense power of God. And you must pray. God is not in the business of answering prayers we do not pray.

But what do you do when God answers your prayer for a miracle with a yes? You praise God for your yes, and you discern God’s will for your life now. Let’s look at Jesus’ healing miracle of the man with leprosy in Matthew 8. After his healing, Jesus gave the man a new mission: He told him not to tell anyone about his healing but rather to go to the priest and be examined, thereby providing a public testimony of his healing. Can you imagine receiving such a miracle and Jesus instructing you to tell no one? If I had received that kind of miracle, I would have wanted to tell everyone immediately. But Jesus had a different plan. Jesus wanted to make a powerful point. Often, God’s plan differs significantly from ours. As you seek God’s will for your miracle, you also have a mission: remain obedient no matter how difficult or strange obedience appears.

As you process God’s will for your miracle, ask if there is something God wants you to do and then surrender to whatever it is. Our attention is almost always focused on the here and now. God is focused on forever. The man with leprosy had been healed by God, not to return to the way things were but to embrace a new mission to show the world how things could be.

All healing miracles are an extension of life and a new mission for life! Ask God what mission He is sending you on with your miracle.

Reflect: Pray for discernment as to God’s new mission for your life now that you have received your miracle. What is God telling you?

About this Plan

Praying for a Miracle

It’s no secret that our world needs healing. Scriptures reveal that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. But the Bible also reveals that Jesus is our Healer. Do you know Him as Healer? My hope is that this devotional will help you understand that the Jesus who did thirty-seven miracles in Scripture is the same Jesus who can do miracles in the lives of those who ask today!
