The Promise of HeavenSample
Day Eight: The Decision
Have you personally called on Christ to forgive you and give you eternal life? If not, you can receive Him and “The Promise of Heaven” today; by “. . . turn(ing) to God in repentance and having faith in our Lord Jesus” (Acts 20:21, NIV, emphasis added ).
Repentance and faith refer to a change of mind. The realization that there’s nothing we can “do” to achieve forgiveness and eternal life. As a result, we place all our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus as our Savior. This will include a desire to turn away from your sin to a life led by Christ, with him and his ways at the center of your life.
By turning to God through faith in Christ, you become a member of God’s family, his child. (John 1:12, 1 John 3:1). Therefore, please take a moment to read the following prayer and determine if it reflects what you believe and desire. If it does, you can trust in Christ, receive His promise, and begin a new life with Jesus today.
“Lord Jesus, I’m sorry for my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Thank you for dying in my place on the cross and rising from the dead. I desire to turn from my sins and trust in You alone to forgive me and give me eternal life. By faith, I receive you into my heart as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life and enable me to follow you. Amen.”
If you’ve just received Christ, and have a friend who follows Jesus, please contact them and inform them of your decision. If you’re not presently attending a church, be encouraged to search for one in your area that is committed to teaching the Bible. Arrange a time to visit a service and meet others. This is an important step as Christ designed life with him to be lived with the support and encouragement of one another (Acts 2:42-47). Also, the YouVersion Bible App has numerous plans to help people grow in their relationship with Christ. Be encouraged to utilize these as you journey through life as a follower of Jesus.
Finally, for all who receive, or have received “The Promise of Heaven,” may the words Jesus spoke two centuries ago to a man without hope, provide new meaning and hope for you. And may your life in Christ bring peace and purpose through this never-ending relationship with the God who created you in His image and loves you. God Bless You!

About this Plan
This plan centers around three individuals about to take their final breath. A theme that appears unattractive until eight words changed everything. Words that gave "The Promise of Heaven." Taken and adapted from "The Promise" by P. J. Meduri (Taking the Field Ministries), this promise is still available today. A promise from the God who loves you, created you in his image, and desires to have a relationship with you.
