The meaning of life: What happens when we die?

Hebrews 9:27: Man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment.

From this verse, we learn at least three things:

1. There is life after death.

2. We live only once – there is no reincarnation.

3. All of us will face judgment after we die.

Let us have a look at Revelation 22:1-5. It describes the destination of the Christian.

But the Bible has more to say about life after death. Read also Revelation 20:11-15.

So often, people avoid this question about life after death. Atheists, totally secularised people and humanists claim the questions are irrelevant. They will tell you that this life is all there is. It is not really the truth. Many atheists are actually "moral atheists" – this means they prefer not to believe because then they can do what they want, and nobody will hold them accountable for what they are doing. (Not all atheists are moral atheists).

Question: What is there in your life that doesn't make sense? Talk with your group about it. Pray about it. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you from the Word.
