Breath of My Beloved

DAY 2 OF 5

A New Revelation

Think of the apostle Peter post the Day of Pentecost. How would you describe him? Peter could have been labeled a "coward" because he denied Jesus three times in fear of his own life being taken.

But there is a remarkable story of an extremely courageous act Peter did well before he received the in-filling of the Holy Spirit.

Read Matthew 14:25-31(NIV) to recall the account of Peter walking on water after Jesus came to His disciples’ boat while walking on the lake. Jesus wasn’t the One who invited His apostle to come to Him. Instead, something else provoked Peter to get out of the boat and believe he could walk on water too.

Could it be that he had a sudden revelation from God, One that took away all fear of stepping outside, as the waves were high and wild? In that moment, Peter appears to realize something about his own identity in Christ. He glimpsed an understanding about himself and what God had placed inside of him.

For the very same Word of God who was walking on water was the same Word who spoke life to the world. The same Word who had then taken from Himself - His own Breath - and infused life into every man.

Therefore, if God chose to create Peter with His own Breath and in His own Image, there was something great inside of Peter that meant he could be just like his Master. He had been created to walk on water too. He had been created to bear witness to God’s Authority and Glory too. That same Breath was inside of him and it was inside of him for a purpose.

God led Peter to take a step of courage in the direction of this new revelation about his Identity. And today, God wants to lead us to do the same.

Will you be open to His Leading?

Will you be open to God revealing what He has placed inside of you? Open as He guides you to discover the things He has called you to do, just as Jesus did? Open to operating in the Power and Authority of His Living Breath, His Holy Spirit, which dwells inside of you?

Don’t let doubt creep in that God’s Mighty Breath and Image are placed inside of you. An Image and Breath that was resuscitated through Jesus’ Sacrifice on the Cross which makes us New Creations, ready to carry His Reflection to the world.

Will you step out in courage today?
