Psalms - Wisdom for Life

DAY 4 OF 15

Songs evoke all kinds of emotions, from sorrow or loneliness to joy and celebration. Songs even make us want to dance around! Music covers every kind of emotion possible. The book of Psalms is like this, too; it’s a collection of prayers, songs, and poetry that covers almost every emotion there is: praise, doubt, joy, and sorrow.

King David wrote many of the Psalms, and he sure had some ups and downs in his life. At one point, David even called himself a worm! Wow, David! Rough day? But even in the tough times, David had his hope in God. David also had some amazing victories, and it’s clear from the Psalms that he loved to worship God and give Him praise.

King David had reasons to grumble and complain; life didn’t always go his way, but he was a king with a thankful heart. David was thankful for God’s protection (today’s reading from Psalm 18); David was thankful for God’s creation (today’s reading from Psalm 8); He was thankful to God for just about everything! This shepherd boy who became king had the right attitude.

The book of Psalms gives us wisdom for life. Praise God with a thankful heart!

About this Plan

Psalms - Wisdom for Life

We can find wisdom for life in the pages of the Bible and one of the most well-known wisdom books, Psalms. Through the life of David, who wrote many of the Psalms, discover that this book is more than just a collection of poems. It shows us how to praise God with a thankful heart, to trust Him in troubled times, and that we have victory in Jesus' name.
